About Dr. Charles W. Washam

Dr. Charles W. Washam is a psychoanalyst, forensic reunification therapist, and Diplomate in Clinical Social Work, Psychoanalysis, and Medical Psychotherapy with more than three decades of clinical experience.

His work reflects an interdisciplinary integration of psychoanalytic treatment, attachment theory, developmental psychology, object relations theory, family systems understanding, and forensic consultation involving complex family and custody matters.

 

Dr. Washam completed psychoanalytic training through the Atlanta Psychoanalytic Institute affiliated with Emory University School of Medicine and the Seabury Institute of Pastoral Psychotherapy. His clinical orientation remains deeply informed by object relations theory and contemporary psychoanalytic thought emphasizing the enduring influence of unconscious emotional life and early attachment experience upon adult personality and relationships.

 

He later graduated from Loyola University Chicago School of Law with concentration in child and family law, further strengthening his ability to work thoughtfully within psychologically and legally complex family systems.

 

In addition to his clinical and forensic work, Dr. Washam is an Episcopal priest whose longstanding interest in moral development, emotional suffering, relational conflict, and psychological healing continues to inform the seriousness and depth of his clinical perspective.
